Anne Forrest

By the time she received her degree in Biochemistry in 1987, Anne knew her
real joy was in the literary arts and not the hard sciences, but the discipline of thought she had acquired she would treasure all of her life. She married, but discovered the working-housewife role left both her
inquisitive mind and spirit unsatisfied. She began to seek fulfillment
in creative expression and spiritual exploration, via such pursuits as fiction writing, poetry, Kundalini yoga and Tai Chi Chuan. These led to her eventual decision to become her own person entirely. In 1997, with one costly act of defiance she returned to her natural state - that of a single woman.
Out of a desire to break out of the confines of America Online and stretch her wings, she decided to learn to write HTML so she could join the vast community of writers and artists on the Internet. She created a website, and began to experiment with online publishing, thrilled to be able to present the works of many talented poets from both the local and the AOL scene. A great joy was the opportunity to illustrate their work with her own custom graphics. See The White Wings Project for the results of this experiment, inspired by a vision received during a Native American rebirthing ceremony.
Anne has organized and conducted readings and workshops enjoyed by some of the finest poets on the eastern seaboard. At one time, she worked for America On-Line as a judge of their online poetry contests. She lives in a quiet Appalacian town, where she employs her considerable organizational and computing skills at a respected university. In her spare time she enjoys writing, and spending time in the company of fellow rogue intellectuals.
The sands of cyberspace are vast, and Anne was among the first to stumble
across The Pyramid of Osiris in her explorations – in part no doubt because of our common fascination with the art and culture of ancient Egypt. We are delighted to be able to publish some of her work here for our Subscribers, and we look forward to adding more in time.
A sad footnote: Anne Forrest was one of several pseudonyms used by Laura Hastings, who took her own life not long ago.
