Austin Sentintinel August 1995

Elisabeth Fleshler and 4 year old Sophie Samson dash across the Laguna Gloria lawn under a rainbow created by an Austin Fire Department stream of water. The rainbow was a test run for an installation by Fred Stern of Silver City, New Mexico, as part of "Rethinking the Natural ," an exhibit organized by the Texas Fine Arts Association. The Exhibit's opening is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with the rainbow at 5 p.m.

note: A firetruck with a top mount cannon and crew was provided by the Austin Fire Department. The rainbow was entitled Metamorphosis and was dedicated to the transformation of humanity from a life destroying to a life preserving species. The scheduling of the event was such that the rainbow height was not as large as I would have liked to have seen.
