The 16ft Airstream's interior rebuilding and polishing was completed in March 2000. Rolite products were used for polishing (click here Polishing.html Trailer was originally a special order for a geologist for use as a field lab with an interior work bench and sink only. The interior was our own creation with furnishing built and applicances installed by us. The vents at rear are for refrig. and the vent cover beneath the side wndow is exhaust vent for heatpump/air conditioner. At the rear, upper center panel, is seen the Dutchmans Cap or Whale Tail, reportedly on '55, '56 and '57 Calif. built models only. Spare tire carrier folds down and is attached to reinforced rear bumper. Vent on side is for 3 gal water heater. Folks at front are Zelma and Roy Lashway.
Interior front couch/bed with battery, converter/chgr, 26 Gal fr.wtr tank, porta potty and storage under. Large pillows hold sleeping pillows and travasack sleeping bags. Couch back folds to form single bed. Similar bed in rear of trailer. No upper storage cabinets. Coca Cola decor theme.
Street side cabinets with frig.,clothing storage and drawer storage. Heat pump/air conditioner is located under the portable radio shelf (lower right). Ventian blinds are stainless steel. Cabinet doors are house window shutters. Couch/bed at very end. Light fixtures above couches and a flours. light above stove (not in pic.). All interior materials and fixtures are new. Aluminum ceiling and cabinets are spray pained with Aqua Flex, a multicolor paint similar to Zolatone.
Curb side cabient with TV tray storage, stove/oven, sink, 3 gal hot water htr under plus storage. Note couch/bed at end. Trailer entry door is about 10" off end of cabinet top. Also full storage under couch. Gray wtr storage is 5 gal. removable tank with capability to drain water to ground or to tank.
View of the Dometic, Duro Therm"Cool Cat" heat pump providing heat and air conditioning. It is a 12,000 BTU unit and does a good job in this 16 ft unit. The round discharge vent holes can be adjusted to direct air in multiple directions, a very desirable feature. Panel to right of heat pump is the Magnetek 7100 Series converter/charger.
