The Run to Ruidoso Downs will be held in the parking of the
Ruidoso Downs Race Track with the beautiful Sacramento Mountains as a backdrop.
Ruidoso Downs Race Track is one of the premier horse racing facilities in the
nation during the summer months. But, on the first full weekend of October, the
track becomes a sea of color when horsepower of a different breed takes over the
facility.
1978 & OLDER VEHICLES
Entry to the event is open to Street Driven Vehicles of 1972 and
older vintage. If you have not previously attended this event you will find that
there is something for everyone.
We have an excellent mix of street rods, muscle
cars, trucks and customs that attend our event.
AWARDS & GOODIES
All registered participants receive a Dash Plaque and an event
T-Shirt. Another timely tradition we have is that members of each of the
sponsoring clubs build home made trophies that are presented during the awards
ceremony at the event. The builder of the trophy then picks the vehicle that
catches his or her eye in conjunction with the theme of their trophy. These
trophies are as clever and unique as any you will ever find at any event. The
trophies run the full range from picks for mild and wild paint to cleanest
undercarriage and then some. This process makes it fun for the trophy builder
and the recipient.
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE
Having the event at the racetrack allows us to have ample parking
for participants and spectators. The racetrack provides us with great facilities
for the participants. This includes the use of the restroom facilities at the
racetrack and their food vendors. They even have a nice restaurant, if you need
a break during the event. The racetrack also has a casino for those of you who
wish to try your luck.
ETSRA has arranged for the racetrack to set aside an area for
those of you who bring your vehicle on a trailer. The trailer parking has easy
access and plenty of room for loading and unloading your vehicle.
