The cliff dwellers must have started building soon after they arrived in the late in the year 127O. In the first ten years or so, they extended their home through most of the caves and constructed about forty rooms.

Using stones from the floor, the cliff dwellers built eight rooms on two levels in this cave. The second floor balcony was supported by the original beams you see extending from the wall. The cliff dwellers entered the upper rooms through the T-shaped doorway. For reasons unknown, such doorways were common throughout the Southwest.
