Perdido--
This is a 3-D Bowtie quilt. I learned to make the bowties at a Retreat
one weekend, and came home and binged on bowties -- made about a billion
of them! I put them on a shelf, and didn't worry about them for a
while. One Friday, while at work, I got a piece of peanut stuck in my
tooth. Went to the dentist, who plucked out the peanut (and set an
appointment for a root canal the next Monday), and gave me some serious
pain-killers. The root canal was a success. A couple of weeks later, I
noticed a lump of fabric on the bed in my sewing room. I picked it up,
and it was a quilt-top. Quite handsome, with 3-D bowties (in blues)
alternated with fussy-cut yellow/blue plaid squares. It had a "Joseph's
Coat" border (in blues), but with a twist -- the strips were set at an
angle! I had no clue where this quilt came from, although it was made
of MY bowties, and MY plaid (I would never have had the patience to
fussy-cut those plaid squares so they all look the same).
The best I could do is assume that I made this top while I was in a
"painkiller-fog", the weekend between the peanut and the root canal. I
STILL have no idea how I set those border-strips at an angle!
This one went to the daughter of some good friends -- 2 years after her
wedding.
