1886 Diary

Bishop Burtleson and others convinced Elijah that Colorado was a land of
great promise so the first entry we find in the journal of the above year is:

10th I started to work for S.C.B. for one dollar per day and bord us
25 i made ditches on my land
26 i wattered my otes
30 i went to meeting Richfield
31 i joined the celebration of May

June
3 my wife came to Colorado

July
4 i tended meeting in Richfield and was received in Richfield ward Colo.
30 we went with S.C.B. on a fishing spre

August
5 i tended fast meeting
6 i went to the canyon after logs for my shop
8 i tended meeting in Richfield and was received into the Seventy quorum
12 I dug my sellar in the now town (Sanford)
20 i started for the canyon to get some poles for my stockyard
23 i tended meeting in Mannassa
30 me and I. Wright cut my otes

September
2 frost shoked up for W. Young to get my grain cut
6 bound and shoked for muself
23 mowed peas for S.C. B.
25 halled grain for myself six loads
26 i tended meeting in Richfield Joseph got his arm broken

October
22 i dug my potatoes

November
18 Elisha came
19 i worked on my house
20 i tended meeting on the rige
30 i worked on my bedsted
