The Spring River Park and Zoo provides an antique carousel, a youth fishing lake, miniature train ride and a variety of animals on display. A perfect place to spend a warm New Mexico day with family and community.

The Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge is an attraction for bird watchers and photographers. There are many viewing platforms as well as areas for hunting and fishing.

Bottomless Lakes State Park, located just sixteen miles southeast of Roswell, is a favorite for boating, fishing, swimming, hiking and camping. The park is a series of seven small lakes bordered by high red bluffs.

The New Mexico Military Institute was established in 1891. It is Roswell's oldest school.

The Roswell Symphony Orchestra, now celebrating its 38th season, is one of the outstanding musical organizations in the Southwest. The Orchestra performs a full concert season every year.

Outdoor Recreation in & around Roswell mean lots of sunshine, fresh air, and open vistas. There are many bike paths throughout the area that are ideal for riding or walking. There are over thirty public parks, plus atheletic fields & arenas, tennis courts, and golf.

One of the things that's great about Roswell is Roswell Public Library. The Library is open 7 days a week and serves all the residents of Chaves County. The Library's collection is approaching 180,000 items. Roswell Public Library has a number of public access computers available with office application software; educational and reference software; and unfiltered, high-speed internet access. The Library provide children's programming with stories and crafts three times per week, and also offers some programs for teens and adults. The Library's reference staff is available to help patrons find materials, or to answer questions in-house or on the telephone.
