SL lovers who have visited.

Jun 20-21, 2001

Upon coming home from being out of town for the day we found a distress call on our answering machine. Bill Brandt (president of the MBCA Scramento Section) was traveling from Sacramento, CA to Dallas, TX when he had some car trouble near Las Cruces, NM. He needed help in finding a repair shop that would take care of the 380SL he was driving. After playing some phone tag, Bill finally got a hold of us through the kind folks at MBCA NBO. After spending the night at our place, the next day we were able to get the 380SL to a M-B mechanic and Bill was on his way right after lunch (thanks for the treat, Bill).

After dropping off the car at L & R Automotive, to kill some time, we visited the local ceramic tile outlet (Casa Mexicana) - got a free cup of coffee and then visited with some more friends that live nearby the repair shop. A couple of hours later we returned to the shop and the car was ready to get back on the road - thanks to Lloyd. (There was a great looking '37 Ford in the shop, not sure what for, it looked pretty good, so had to take a couple of pictures.)

Anyway, to make a long story short, Bill has been a long standing member of the Ritter-Easley mailing list and had previous contact with Earl Shepard, another list member, who also happens to be a local resident. It was interesting that when we went back to pick up the car, that Earl was at L & R, so Bill and Earl finally got to meet face-to-face.

Certainly was an interesting 18 hours.

Overnight parking

Making sure the battery was fully charged.

The culprit - broken alternator belt

Now there is where the problem is!

Now the real mechanic - Lloyd takes a look.
