The Space Shuttle Pond
The Space Shuttle Pond is located just outside the rear door of the
museum building housing the Indoor Displays and the Gift Shop. A walkway crosses the pond
where you can watch the Koi fish in the pond. At left in the photo is the tail section of
the WW-II era V-2 German rocket. In the picture background is the Organ Mountains, so named because
of a section of the mountains (about 2 miles to the south) with its multiple, thin towereing
peaks, resembling a Pipe Organ. The low place in the mountains is St. Augustine Pass
where US Highway 70 passes. |
