SUNKINGS NEWS

It isn’t over till the fat lady sings. She was humming pretty good at Saturday nights game with the Razorbacks. The tune she was humming "Turn off the lights the party's over on the SUNKINGS", but the party didn't start for the SUNKINGS till the middle of the third quarter and went on till the wee hours of Sunday morning.

In a game that saw both teams stand toe to toe and take each others best shot's, it was the SUNKINGS who delivered the knockout blow with just ten seconds left in the game. Trailing 20-0 in the middle of the third quarter, the SUNKINGS offense got on the board with a touchdown leap by Jonathan Byrd who recorded two for the night. The SUNKINGS defense which has been the backbone for the team, gave up three touchdowns for the night and once again came up big when needed with several sacks, two blocked punts and two interceptions. Both were made by Derek Davis who also recovered a fumble. The final blow came when the defense blocked a Razorback punt with under a minute left in the game. With just ten seconds left in the game and the SUNKINGS trailing 20-15, QB Ray Diaz who had struggled for most of the game hit Calvin Johnson across the middle to clinch the game."

"Man hats off to both team for coming out here tonight and battling the way they did. The Razorbacks really out played us for the first two and half quarters. We made some adjustments at halftime on both sides of the ball and they seemed to help get us back on track. Once again big up's to our D for putting us in position to win the game. Ray struggled a bit tonight but he stood tall when we needed him too. I think everybody took their game to another level in that second half. The Razorbacks were warrior’s tonight, hats off to them for a great game. They showed a lot of class through out the game. Thanks to the Hatch Valley community for putting this game on. They were a great host. I hope we can do it again." quoted Coach Frausto
