"I am originally from Callahan, Florida. This town may be located on a map of the state. just to the right of that little "dip" that
pokes down into Florida. This map makes it kind of hard to see the spot, but it is a current satelite view. Callahan is almost as
close to Amelia Island as it is to Jacksonville. I grew up 6 miles from the nearest town (St. George, Georgia), a tiny burg
without so much as a traffic light. I feel pretty fortunate that I am even able to spell "computre", let alone have the ability to
operate one. My home was approximately 9 miles "as the crow flies" to the borders of the Okeefenokee National Park; a
location that I wholeheartedly reccomend if you want to spend some time away from it all.
I have subjected myself to a wide range of occupations, from automotive electrical repair (my first job), right on up through
such beauties as bakery, gas station attendant, roofing/remodeling, cabinet making, mass food production, and grill operator. I
am a first class grill operator under the Waffle House evaluation standard. My longest running project isn't even what I would
consider a job, since the income from it is usually next to nothing; I operate a Bulletin Board System (BBS). My system, The
Snipe Hunt, has been in continuous operation since January 1st, 1990. I describe it as my 10 year project, and I intend to
keep it going at least until the turn of the century.
Some of my favorite fictional reading includes Stephen King, Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, and Douglas Adams. I am interested
in a wide range of subjects. I have read works by Aristotle, Isaac Asimov, and Stephen Hawkings, among others. My interests
there are as large as space, and cover as much ground as evolution itself.
I have spent more than a little time researching evolutionary history; primarily in the past few thousand years, but sketchily
dating back millions of years. I find the discovery of the consciousness of self an interesting one, and see religion, both
organized and not, as being a decendant of that initial awareness. I see organized religion as having been more of a restraint to
the development of mankind than a guiding force. It saddens me to think of where we might be today if society had accepted
such one-time heresies as were imagined by Galileo, or Da Vinci."
