Hey there! My grandad Earshall Miller was
stationed in Diego Garcia in 1972-1974. I was
wondering if you remember him. Mcb10. Construction
mobile. Navy. He knew a guy by the name of
ezell?
I’m searching for information
or anyone who knew my cousin Danny
Burns who was on Diego Gracia as a Seabee
in the late 60's or early 70’s. Danny was a BU
or a EO, not sure. I was a UT in MCB 10,
66-68, I-Corps Vietnam. We shared the same
birthday and were close but lost touch in the 60’s
and 70’s. Danny died of an aneurism at 48,
like his Dad. My Cousin Barbara Benedict
(Burns) would like to learn something about Danny's
service as a Seabee.
(I’m using my wife's email
which would be fine to reply to or mine is: saxtonw1@gmail.com.

Dear Mr Morris, Me and my
friends have a hobby and that’s collecting flag icons on
emails from all over the world. But BIOT is such
a problem to get, it hasn’t been around since 2010,
till 4 days ago, now everyone is trying to lay their
hands on it. Is there any way to get in touch
with people on the island or in Diego Garcia, because
that’s what we need, a person who is in BIOT and has
it’s IP address there. I
really hope you can help me, any feedback at all is
very much appreciated. Max Huijink (NL)

I'm late 20's

radio stations from all over the globe. If anyone
who was stationed in Diego Garcia in the distant

recordings of the American or British forces
radio stations that may have operated
there, I'd love to hear them. I'm also very
interested in anyone who was recently on Diego
Garcia or may be there now who could record the
radio stations for me. I can't really afford to
pay you, but I will be glad to pay postage there

Hey a Friend of mine is getting ready to
launch a new phone app for cigar smokers. It
looks pretty cool and easy to use, if you've
seen me try to use the new phones you know thats
saying alot. If you have a Facebook account and
friend the page the app will be free for you to
download.
Search for "IVice Cigars"
Don't know if you are into this or not but
thought I'd forward the information, tell
anybody you know that's into cigars.

I'm
married and we have two baby boys aged 8 months and
you can help us with one little thing. I know it'll
sound childish, so please don't laugh on that but you
see, with having two baby boys life is sometimes
different from what one might expect.
So, the thing is, that me and
my wife have decided to teach our sons to respect
other countries from a very early age. In this project
we first created a family website (http://szabo-peter.mindenkilapja.hu/)
which recognizes visitors from all over the world
adding the
country flag of all new visitors. In the
evenings we tend to sit in front of the screen
selecting a country (either where we've been to or
where we'd like to travel or about countries that
exist only in our dreams to travel to) putting the
flag in front of our boys (they love the colours of
them!) and talking about the countries (although they
don't understand us yet...)
First, of course we read
about those countries we want to talk about. (We have
a great book from Lonely Planet containing all
countries.)
So, we've never had anyone to talk to from BIOT, so if
anyone visits our website (which automatically adds
the flag of BIOT to the list of countries) they will
be the first.
I hope you understand this...
(I told you it'd sound childish) but it would mean a
lot to us.
In the website they'll find
the photos of our twins as well as a picture of the
whole family, and of course the list of flags from
those countries where there have been a visit from
(now there are 217 different countries)
I think any Internet
connection works except for the wireless one (because
it only adds "unknown satellite provider") but when
they visit the site from Diego Garcia they'll see in
the flaglist whether her flag appeared or not (usually
5 mins needed for the application to refresh itself)
Of course, feel free to check
the website yourself and if you can help me by asking
some of your friends there to make a visit on our
site, I'd really appreciate that.
Take care

Dear Sir,
As a bit of background, I was employed as a MSCPAC
Staff Purser and was sent to DG in early 82 for my
first tour of 13 months.I
returned in 83 for 10 more months and then again in
early 85 for about 8 more months. During that
time, I worked for the CO of MPSRON 2 and lived on the
island - first in old splinterville, then to a quonset
in front of the "O" club. Then
they built some apartments and I was given one of
them, talk about heaven.....
Anyway, during my second
tour, I was allowed to join in the Brit Club as a
member.I purchased a
ball cap and T-shirt from them which is after these
many years, starting to fade and get a bit ragged so I
am investigating a means of obtaining some replacement
articles and wonder if you happen to have any e-mail addresses for
the Brits on the island that I can communicate with?
Getting on in years now and
only have very FOND memories of the great times that I
spent on DG.I can send
you a bunch from the civilian/military side of living
on the island if you would like me to.
Thank you for your kind attention to this.

PLEASE NOTE THE ITEMS MARKED; THESE EVENTS ARE ALL
INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRATION FEE ($25.00) PER
PERSON.
Here is
the BIG ONE: They are going to have a couple of
cruises on the LST 325, which will last
approximately 2 to 2 ½ hrs on Thursday 9/27/07.
The only catch to it is, AND THIS IS BECAUSE OF
INSURANCE PURPOSES, you must be a member of the
LST 325 Memorial. Some of us are already members.
After having discussions with the powers to be,
they have agreed to give the AAFA an exclusive
cruise (AAFA people only) if we can come up with
150 members in the LST 325 Memorial. The cost
would be $20.00 per person and this would give you
membership and the AAFA exclusive cruise. Please
see the form to be filled out and returned to the
treasurer, Dave Miller.
Also,
if you are interested, for $20.00 you can have an
“airplane flyover of the LST and city. Check our
sign up sheet for that.
We will
have a SMALL hospitality room, which will be
available for each LST to hold a meeting, if they
wish, or do with what we want.
The
$25.00 registration fee gets you into ALL the FREE
events and BUS transportation to the events and
the ship all week.
It is
really a very busy week and you can participate in
all and/or any part of it. It sure would be nice
if we could get enough to participate and have an
“EXCLUSIVE” cruise on the “325”. You could not
“BUY” this cruise at this price, anywhere! I
already know of 4 or 5 who are members of the LST
325 Memorial.
Looking
forward to having “EVERYONE” there.
Respectfully,
The
Reunion Committee

Andrea, was a member of the crew of the L.Y.
Spear, out of Norfolk, VA. Her ship was called
up during the Iranian Crisis in 1980. She
was never where she was supposed to be at the
time to be there, she had more Captain's Mast's
than anybody else I know of. She wound up in the
brig and in the engine room, on bread and water,
while in Diego Garcia. But, she was a brilliant
woman of 18 who didn't know who she was. She
could have attended Annapolis, but puposely
flunked the test so she could follow in her
father's footsteps (he was in the Merchant
Marine at the time)around the world. So, she
opted for a ship, and she got the SPEAR. She
became one of the first women Shellbacks on a
non-combatant vessel. Her father never became a
Shellback, since he was on non-navy ships while
crossing, but he was an Officer in the Naval
Reserve, so Andrea saluted him when they were
together. Andrea was a sweet, kind, and generous
woman, who loved her family very much - maybe
that is why she screwed up her naval career and
lasted only two years until it was mutually
agreed upon that she exit the service. She was
married, first marriage, to Fred Cosier, who was aboard the LY SPEAR -
has anyone heard of him? or heard from him
recently? He doesn't know that our Andrea, at
age 40, died of breast, lung and brain cancer on
July 19,2002. We miss her terribly and these
websites really contribute to our well being.
She is up in heaven now, looking down upon all

words to cover our heads as we plow along in

and I had some awesome experiences while I was
there. I met some really cool people there, one in
particular that I grew very fond of, his nickname
is OZZ. We had some
pretty fun and memorable times together,to say the
least:)! He was so awesome and wish I was in

so fast, he left before me and I was heartbroken:(
We kept in contact for a while afterward and for
no apparrent reason I don't hear from him anymore
and don't even know how to contact him. That makes
me really sad because he was so awesome and I just
hate someone as special as him to just
dissappear so suddenly out of my life. If it

happened to get lucky enough to get sent to I
wouldn't have had the amazing experiences I had or
met some really cool people and saw such awesome
things! The ocean is beautiful not to mention the
beautiful white sand that looks like snow! The
beautiful sunrises and sunsets on this "paradise".
The tropical rains that last for days!! Ahhh the

NOT
A HERO JUST A MAN WHO SERVED HIS COUNTRY AND DID
IT WILLINGLY. I
DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THAT A LOT OF MEN WOULDN'T HAVE
DONE. I DID WHAT I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO DO , AND I
DID IT BECAUSE I WANTED TOO. I SERVED MY TIME AND
WAS GLAD I DID/ AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN
EVEN/THOUGH I MIGHT DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY/KNOWING
WHAT I KNOW NOW. I'M WRITING THIS STORY BECAUSE IT
IS THE TRUTH AS I KNOW IT TO BE, AND MAYBE IT CAN
HELP US ALL TO KNOW IT.
THE SHIP I WAS ON THE USS EDSON DD946 WAS A GOOD
SHIP WITH A GOOD CREW AND A VERY GOOD SKIPPER. WE
DID OUR BEST TO SERVE OUR COUNTRY.
WE WERE IN THE WATERS OF VIETNAM AND WERE IN
DANGER MANY TIMES, CLOSE TO THE COAST AND NEAR THE
SHORE. WE WEREW UNDER ENEMY FIRE MANY TIMES, AND
EVEN GOT HIT.I REMEMBER BEING SCARED A FEW TIMES/
OR MAYBE YOU MIGHT SAY EXCEITED.
ON THE MORNING OF MAY 8TH 1967, WE PULLED INTO THE
HARBOR OF DANANG. VIETNAM. WE TIED TO THE PIER IN
A FUNNY KINDA .IT WAS A SMALL PIER. THE FANTAIL OF
THE SHIP WAS TIED TO THE PIER,AND THE BOW STUCK
WAY OUT.WE HAD TO DROP THE STARBOARD ANCHOR AS THE
SHIP WAS TOO BIG TO FIT THE PIER.I BIEING THE JACK
OF THE DUST WAS ALONG WITH A FEW OTHERS,ALOUD TO
GO ASHORE TO SEE WHAT THEY HAD IN THE LINE OF
SUPPLIES THAT THEY MAY HAVE HAD ON BASE THERE. I
SPENT ALMOST TWO HOURS ON SHORE BEFORE IT WAS TIME
TO GET BACK TO THE SHIP.
WE GOT BACK JUST BEFORE THE COMADORE AND HIS
ENTARAGE GOT BACK.
WHILE
I WAS ON THE FANTAIL OF THE SHIP WAITING FOR THE
SHIP TO GET UNDERWAY , AN AIRPLANE THAT WAS
SPRAYING ON THE SHORELINE FLEW OVER THE FANTIAL OH
THE SHIP. WHAT EVER IT WAS SPRAYING,IT SPRAYED ON
ME. I THOUGHT IT WAS SPRAYING FOR BUGS AND I
DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO GET OUT OF THE WAY . I GOT A
GOOD DOSE OF WHAT EVER CAME OUT OF THE PLANE.
WE WERE YOUNG AND THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY THAT THEY
TRY TO SPRAY A SHIP.WE HAD A GOOD LAUGH BUT I
DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WOULD CAUSE MY DAUGHTER TO BE
BORN WITH A HOLE IN HER BACK . SHE WAS BORN WITH
SPINAL/BIFIDIA.
THE DECK LOGS OH THE SHIP SHOW PEOPLE GETTING ON
AND OFF THE SHIP. THESE SAME PEOPLE WERE ON THE
SHIP BEFORE WE DOCKED AND ANCHORED!HOW DID THEY
DID THEY GET ON AND THE SAME WAY I DID THEY
WALKED.
YET THE VETERNS AFFAIRS STILL SAYS THAT I'M NOT AN
IN COUNTRY VETERAN AND REFUSES TO GIVE MY DAUGHTER
TO MONIES THAT SHE DESERVES/SHE DIDN'T ASK TO BE
BORN WITH A HOLE IN HER BACK.

which belong to a rotating Detachment from the

The rest of us are considered permanent party

in common is being known for our parting and

father that rightfully should be his to give his
daughter. I would love to find him. He is quite
a character. Someone in your bunch should have
some knowledge of him. Please help. I am
