William Manker's Will

In the name of the Benevolent Father
of all. Item First I will and bequeath
to my beloved wife in lieu of her Dower
the farm on which I now reside
situated in the County of Highland
and State of Ohio Containing sixty
one acres during her natural life-
and all the stock household goods fur-
niture provisions and other goods and
chattels which may be thereon at the
time of my decease she however selling
so much thereof as may be sufficient to
pay my debts and funeral Expenses --
at the death of my said wife the real-
estate aforesaid and such part of the
said personal property on the proceeds
thereof as may then remain unconsumed
and unexpended be sold and divided as follows

to my son Jacob Manker one dollar
to my son Jonathan Manker one dollar
to my son Absalom Manker one dollar
To my son John Manker one dollar
To my son Hiram Manker forty dollars
To my son Evan Manker one dollar
To my son Lewis Manker one dollar
To my Daughter Anne now Anne Cowman one Dollar
To my Daughter Ruth now Ruth Cochran one Dollar
To my Daughter Elizabeth now Elizabeth Bennett one Dollar
To my Daughter Catherine Manker seventy five dollars
To my Daughter Mary Manker seventy five dollars
To Rachel Manker my Daughter one hundred dollars
To my Daughter Lucinda Manker one hundred dollars
and the residue if any to be equally divided
to all ---
I do hereby nominate and appoint Thomas
Williams Executer of this my last will and
testament hereby authorising and empowering
them to compromise adjust release and
discharge in such manner as he
may deem proper the debts and claims
due me I do also authorise and empower
if it shall become necessary in order
to pay my debts to sell by private sale
or in such manner upon such Terms
of Credit or otherwise as he may think
proper all or any part of my real estate
and deed to purchases to Execute acknowledge
and deliver in fee simple -- In Testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this eighteenth day of March
in the year of our Lord one Thousand
eight hundred and thirty nine.

Highland Com. Pleas July Term 1839
This day the last Will and Testament
of William Manker decd was produced in open
Court and at the same time personally came
William Cochran and Matthias Hatter subscribing
witnesses thereto and after being duly sworn
say that the said William Manker at the time
of the Execution of the said Will was over
the age of twenty one years and of sound
mind voluntarily subscribed the same
and published and declared the same to be
his last Will and Testament in their presence
and hearing and that they in his presence and
at his request and in presence of each other signed
the same as subscribing witnesses.
