Vectors: Creating Hollow Objects using "Reverse Contour" and "Reverse Path"

October  2002                       Online tutorial here: Creating Hollow Objects

Homework Assignment Week 2:

Provide the 2 objects created from the tutorial.

Create one more image of your choice. Don’t be afraid to try other preset-shape objects, Vector text or curves like Doro mentions.

Make sure to take note of the last part of Doro’s tutorial where these techniques are mentioned as there are valuable tips that will help you to succeed. :0)

  Multiple Cutouts!

A Star Within was just plain neat.

The real challenge was presented in the Multiple Cutouts section of the tutorial.

Not having any idea of what I did wrong the first time I decided to try it again but saving my results at different stages and identifying each with a "step" number ( just in case I had to redo it).  The results of the second attempt I proudly display above.

Now, back to the "PSP Drawing Board" to complete my homework assignment.

This was worth the effort!

Using a black background and a predefined gradient for the ellipse I was on my way. Began by reversing the direction of the ellipse which was easier than reversing the other objects.

White text was (finally) made outside of the ellipse and  then dragged into position.
The Vector Object Selector tool was used to right click on the text and select "Convert Text to Curves" from the menu.

I learned so much by following the tutorial and by redoing it (quite a few times).  (:o))

Doro, thanks again for another great tutorials.

Doro, thank you for the kind words.
