PAUL BENSHOOF Still I SingAlbum Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
WELL WORTH THE WAIT! After a hiatus of nearly 12 years, critically acclaimed songwriter Paul Benshoof has released his sixth album! The album features solid rockers New Attitude and Train to Amsterdam as well as the folksy acoustic tune What Your Eyes Have Never Seen and eight other musical gems sporting Benshoof's signature sound.
This is not to suggest that the album is chalked full of recycled, predictable material. Never to be pigeon-holed into a strict musical category, Benshoof deliciously covers a variety of styles from guitar rock to acoustic folk to swing jazz to piano ballads, yet never deviating far from the sonic textures his fans have come to adore. Fans won't be disappointed!

PAUL BENSHOOF Won't You Leave Me Alone?Album Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
STILL ON A ROLL! After four other successful albums, critically acclaimed songwriter Paul Benshoof is at it again!
Catapulting off the Los Angeles area radio airplay success of the singles One Guitar and What Will it Take?, the album showcases snappy tunes complete with coherent lyrics as well as intimate, poetic ballads with dynamic arrangements.
Each cut features Benshoof's unmistakable style, often referred to as the Beatles' melodic sensibility crossed with the urgency of vintage Costello. The uniqueness of each song on this album characteristically contributes to the album's ability to stand out among Benshoof's previous releases. A winner!

PAUL BENSHOOF The Man that You Never KnewAlbum Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
RECORDED ABROAD! While serving in the United States Army, Paul relocated his label, TMPB Recordings, to Korea where his music became noticeably more moody and profound. These works were shelved until two years after his return to the states, where they re-emerged on the 1991 release The Man that You Never Knew.
Although not obvious at first, repeated listening reveals that the songs on The Man that You Never Knew are united by subtle underlying themes that give the album a cohesiveness unlike Benshoof’s previous albums. This intertwining thematic structure moves loosely from the subject of "imprisonment" to "avoiding imprisonment" while at the same time questioning whether we know ourselves and if others really know us.
While the clever manipulation and unity of themes make the album an enjoyable listen, the songs work as stand-alone entities as well. Consequently, album cuts Never Run Forever and Picture on the Wall enjoyed popularity that rivaled Benshoof’s earlier hits. A TMAR favorite!

PAUL BENSHOOF One Too Many WomenAlbum Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
As a follow-up to Benshoof’s 1987 album I’d Rather Wait for a Ride, TMPB Recordings released One Too Many Women in the spring of 1988. It was the first of Paul Benshoof’s albums to receive countrywide distribution and featured singles Gonna Hear the Rock'n'Roll Play and Play Me a Love Song, although in 1989 a previously unnoticed album track If You Looked in His Eyes began enjoying recognition as the album's best song.
Despite the popularity of the album’s ballads, this album marks a no-nonsense return to the straight-up rock’n’roll influences that got Paul started. The sound is fresh and the production is more ambitious than his previous releases, making this album his best effort yet. Always insightful, Benshoof’s lyrics on this album are often playful, but at times bitterly forceful. The album title perhaps offers explanation for his virtual mood swings.
Whether you’re looking for honest tell-tale ballads or great rock with clever lyrics and an attitude, this is the album for you.

PAUL BENSHOOF I'd Rather Wait for a RideAlbum Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
This album was released about four months after Benshoof's A Bit Too Close and features a brand of song Benshoof calls the "one-day wonder." More than half the songs appearing on this album were written and recorded on the same day, which gives the production a sound seldom heard in contemporary recordings. Surprisingly enough, the spontaneity of those songs sold nearly four times as many copies as Benshoof's first album and provided listeners with several new Benshoof favorites.
This collection contains 11 Benshoof originals and includes favorites Running Through the Night With Your Sunglasses On and Once Upon a Time, the modern-day fairy tale that opens the album.

PAUL BENSHOOF A Bit Too CloseAlbum Review by The Minstrel Avenue Record
A Bit Too Close features Paul’s earliest writing, performing, and recording attempts and thus captures a sound reminiscent of his acoustic college jamming days. Although most of the album’s songs are acoustically oriented and very "folky" in nature, the incorporation of electric instruments and heavy percussion into many song arrangements allows the album to gravitate toward rock’n’roll tendencies at times.
Akin to the story-telling ballads of Harry Chapin or Bob Dylan, the undisputed hit of the album is I Finally Paid the Toll, a story of self-examination (with religious overtones) that tells us life’s experiences, good or bad, can help us deal with the stressful uncertainty of the future--and even emerge victorious.
A nice collection of songs!
