Elana was born in Texas and moved to Georgia when she was a wee babe. She started playing the violin when she was in high school.

Challenged by the complexity of classical music, she soon decided to pursue music as a profession. After majoring in music in college, Elana began her career as a freelancer and also started teaching violin and viola privately. She has since performed with Orchestra Atlanta, Cobb Symphony, Emory-Atlanta Orchestra, Rome Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and Macon Symphony in Georgia and orchestras in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Elana made the transition to rock'n'roll when Mike asked her to join The Donors. Now, in addition to burning up the fingerboard of her purple Zeta violin, she has also fulfilled a long time desire to play bass guitar, playing some tunes on bass during the live show. Elana spends her time away from music playing with her five cats and tinkering with her 1980 Pontiac Trans Am. She digs into any kind of job that may be needed from a top end motor rebuild to transmission work. She also enjoys being outdoors and makes regular hikes up Georgia's Stone Mountain.
