Domestic Violence (Self-Funded)

As the District and Magistrate Courts have asked for help with their  domestic abuse offenders through the screening programs that the local DWI program provide,  we see this as another positive step to curbing the alcohol abuse problem, as well as the domestic abuse problems here in Sierra County. By providing screening and assessment, we have been instrumental in referring and locating services needed to continue to curb the domestic abuse problem as it relates to DWI in our community. As we have made this a self-funded program, this has created a collaboration that we feel will enhance our community efforts towards solving the substance abuse problem, and we have been able to serve more clients in the County.

DWI is providing SASSI Evaluations and UA observed drug testing for male and females, for the courts in Sierra County and CYFD. This service has helped to insure that the offenders are getting the needed help with any issues around drug or alcohol abuse and use.

We have trained 4 people on our staff to administer the ADE, SASSI, and UA’s to offenders. Three of these are contracted with DWI to work under a self-funded contract; the other is the DWI Coordinator. Office space and a computer are provided for the contractors.

only alternative, because of the increase in alcohol related incidents at our schools and the on going truancy problem our teen court administrator has been working very close with the Schools, JPPO and the courts to offer programs in conjunction with teen court as an alternative in the community. Funding of Teen Court is seen as a necessary and meaningful program by our Task Force.
