interest that is happening around the Village of Capitan.
As you all probably know, Randy Spear has been appointed as the new
Chief of Police. Applications are currently being received for
two certified police officers. Public safety will continue to be
a pressing concern of the Mayor and Trustees.
Please be advised that public comment will not be allowed on regular
items at the Board meetings. The Open Meetings Act does not
require a public body to allow members of the public to speak at its
meetings. All of you are encouraged to participate in our
representative democracy by contacting your elected officials directly
to discuss any issues.
We are working hard to get the new water well approved and we are
entering into the engineering phase of the water loop line project.
Dr. Larry Miller reports that the Capitan Tigers football team looks
like a strong contender for a state championship this year and they
have a winning record to support Dr. Miller’s prediction. A
homecoming parade was held on Thursday along with the traditional bon
fire. Go Tigers!
Mr. Richard Moncrief, Veterans’ Service Officer, will make
himself available to help any veteran who is in need of
assistance. He stated he will be available to come to Capitan and
meet with anyone who needs help. His telephone number is
1-(505)-624-6086, Roswell, NM. His email is
