VILLAGE OF CAPITAN
RESOLUTION NO. 2004-19
JOINT RESOLUTION
SUPPORTING GRANT APPLICATION
FOR FUNDING FOR A
JUVENILE METHAMPHETAMINE PREVENTION
AND EDUCATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Federal Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of
1974 makes funds available to the state and units of local and tribal
government for programs that provide community-based services that
limit the use of secure detention and institutionalization; and
WHEREAS, the City of Ruidoso Downs, the Village of Ruidoso and the
Village of Capitan participate in the Lincoln County Juvenile Justice
Board in order to carry out the objectives of providing community-based
services for juveniles; and
WHEREAS, the communities of Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs and Capitan
recognize that methamphetamine use among juveniles is a growing and
immediate problem in Lincoln County and desire to jointly apply for
grant funding to allow the Lincoln County Juvenile Justice Board to
develop a program for methamphetamine education and prevention among
juveniles.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Village of Capitan is in full
support of an application for grant funding to establish a
methamphetamine education and prevention program in Lincoln County
under the direction of the Lincoln County Juvenile Justice Board.
