ICQ CONNECTION URL'S

With each copy of the ICQ application you get two url's for connecting to them.  These are:

	icq.mirabilis.com	 port 4000
	icq1.mirabilis.com	 port 4000

These addresses are used by your ICQ to connect to the Mirabilis server.  The idea is that if one doesn't work the other one should.  Your ICQ will alternate between trying each one.  However, there are other url's that can also be used.  This is a list of them:

        icq2.mirabilis.com 	port 4000
	icq3.mirabilis.com 	port 4000
	icq4.mirabilis.com 	port 4000
	208.202.84.41		port 4000
	207.95.232.2		port 4000
	208.215.43.50		port 4000
	105.99.113.49		port 4000
	 38.161.231.49		port 4000
	 38.161.231.45		port 4000
	 38.161.231.44		port 4000
	 38.161.231.40		port 4000

To add them to your system LEFT click the MENU (ICQ) button and choose PREFERENCES.  When that window opens click on the SERVERS tab and you will see the two default urls in the window.

Click on the ADD button on the right side and a new window appears. You can type the address in or use copy/paste (paste is CTRL-V).  Be sure you only get the address in the long (left) window.  The 4000 goes in the port window to the right of that one.  For ease you can paste the entire thing in the left window, type in the port to the right then delete the unwanted characters in the left window.  Click on OK.  Do this for each new url.

If you put a check mark in the box for MOVE LAST SUCCESSFULLY CONNNECTED SERVER TO THE TOP OF THE LIST you will be able to keep and eye on the ones most effective as well as verifying this is working.

It seems the Mirabilis home site for downloading new copies of ICQ has long periods of time when it is pretty busy.  Sometimes it is best to pick the time of day to download.  One the east coast it might be better to DL as early as possible before the two western time zones get on the net in any numbers. On the west coast waiting until late when the two eastern time zones are off the net may work best.  For those of us in the two center time zones .. tough.
