I grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas and relocated to San Diego, California when I enlisted in the Navy. I lived most of my adult life San Diego and raised a family (daughter and two sons) there. I retired early and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in Dec. 1990. Our retired life is built around traveling. We take 3-4 week driving trips and 2-4 week cruise or overseas tours each year. We also make frequent short trips to San Diego, Ft. Worth and Colorado Springs to visit family. We enjoy having house guests and in the spirit of the southwest ...

My Luve's like a red, red rose
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And fare thee weel, my only Luve,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune!
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry:
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o'life shall run.
And fare thee weel a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' it were ten thousand mile.
A smile that lights up like

It's eerie [& romantic] seeing it in the glow of a full moon. The park is open in summer until after moon rise on full moons and the nights before and after.
We love to take a basket and picnic while waiting for the golden moon to rise.

Sunsets are often so intense that the EASTERN sky is colored too. But then the
sunrises are intense enough to color the WESTERN sky also.
Not that I am up often to see sunrises. (grin)

I was happy to 'sit' for this photo as it gets sort of hard to breathe at that altitude.

The sun beaming down from the sky so blue,
Eyes that shine like diamonds,
sparkling,
Sending out rays of light,
through prisms of color.
Arms,
strong enough to hold the very essence of another human.
The total being of someone so strong,
yet so fragile.
A mind as sharp as the point of a needle,
brilliance emitting through words of wonder.
The personality endurith by friends,
as,
Special,
Trusting,
and,
Truthful
This being.....'A Friend"

One [of two] granddaughters, my wife and I at White Sands National Monument. The Monument [40 miles east of Cruces on the Missile Range] is a vast deposit of gypsum.

This is a sunset looking westward over the valley from my house. From here there is nothing to break the panorama of the view. So your peripheral vision is filled with the colrs too.

Here's our new Pontiac TransSport Montana van. And, boy, do we love it! Since we got it the fall of '98 we have trouble staying home. Traveling is sooo much more fun now.

These pictures are the 9,000' Organ Mountains on the east side of Mesilla Valley. The rock wall you see is between my house and the Sand Hill Arroyo. To those not familiar with the southwest, an arroyo is a part time river. It carries run-off from the Organ Mts. to the Rio Grande River in the valley. The mountains assume a variety of colors during the day as the sun tints them. In winter they will be frequently capped with snow as is illustrated below.

This was taken during a '98 visit to Colorado Springs to visit our daughter and grand- daughter.
