I might take the paper moon,
and cut it from the sky,
I might take each shining star,
and scrape them from the night.

I might take the burning sun,
and peel it from its page,
I might take the coloured clouds,
and erase them all away.

But they fit all too nicely
where God put them to play,
so I guess I better leave them
where they would rather stay.

Besides, I do not want to steal
the moon or sun from night or day,
I have a higher set desire
to steal your heart away.
