Diane Barrett of Diane’s Restaurant in Silver City, NM, has been a WESST Corp client since 1996 whe she received a WESST Corp loan to open a small café. The next year she came to us for an SBA Pre-qualification loan to expand her business. She has since expanded again and purchased her building.
Hers is an extraordinary story about struggle and success in a rural community, but her drive and perseverance have been an example to other women - “dreams can come true.”
To date, Diane has won two SBA Entrepreneur Awards, PNM’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and New Mexico’s Women Magazine’s Phoenix Award. Her business achievements have been written up in The Neighborhood Works magazine from Chicago, Silver City’s Old West Trails and Silver City Life Magazine. Besides being highlighted as one of New Mexico’s top three restaurants in New Mexico Magazine’s Travel Guide, she is listed in Fudor’s and was acclaimed “the best place to eat in Southern New Mexico” by NY Times Travel Guide.
She was also featured on the front page business section of the New York Times.
