I said a prayer for you today

and know that it was heard.

I felt the answer in my heart

although God spoke no word:

I didn't ask for wealth or fame,

I knew you wouldn't mind;

I asked Him to send treasures

of a far more lasting kind:

I asked that He would be near you

at the start of each new day;

to grant you health and blessing

and friends to share your way:

I asked for happiness for you

in all things great and small;

but, it was for His loving care

I prayed for most of all.

And now, I make a solemn request,

as a friend and brother too;

that before another day has past

you can say, "I said a prayer for you."

I close with the following from Dr. Bill's Page of "Little things from D. E. Wheeler, MD", May 1996 issue:

Christian Fellowship is not just a luxury - it is sheer necessity. Being together as Christians in Worship, Bible Study, Prayer and "Sharing is not just a "nice thing to do." It is absolutely indispensable to spiritual health and growth. Christians need each other like members of a body need each other, and so delicately balanced is this organic relationship among Christians that the Apostle Paul declares "if one member suffers all members suffer." Individuals in Christianity is a contradiction. Because one of the earliest discoveries made by the regenerated man is his affinity for the dependence upon his brethren in Christ.

My friend Mary Wang who was Imprisoned by Chinese Communists told me how she and other nurses were placed in isolation until they discovered a way to communicate. While each was taking their daily walk alone, they would whistle or hum a familiar hymn. Other missionaries in solitary confinement would hear and softly sing in their cells. Though never permitted to converse, they kept in touch this way and life in isolation was transformed by this fleeting contact which fired hope and courage. Dwight L. Moody was once asked, "Is it possible to be a good Christian and not attend church?" With out a word the evangelist took a poker, separated one coal from the bed of fire in the fireplace - then quietly watched as the heat rained out of it and the red hot coal became a cold gray cinder.

Deprive yourself of Christian fellowship, you doom your soul to the ordeal of malnutrition and dehydration. Signed Dr. Bill (this author is a second Bill Wheeler)
