Sites for Geographical Searches:
- The USGenWeb Project is organized by county and state with this site providing links to all state websites which, in turn, provide gateways to the counties.
- Search the USGenWeb Archives by surname after selecting a state then use your find button.
- Harden Political InfoSystem To find information about a particular county, (such as county
courthouse address, list of schools, and other political and statistical
information) try this site.
- Macoupin County, Illinois Genealogy is part of the GenWeb County Webpage system for doing online research. This is the county where James Stonewall was born.
- City of the Silent is the most complete and extensive cemetery site on the net. You can find information about cemetery symbols, epitaphs, history, tombstone rubbing, and other matters of cemetery culture.

- Ancestry Home Town Web Site has our GEDCOM file of 1,300 individuals which can be freely downloaded by searching for "James Stonewall WHEELER Illinois 1850-1899" that will give you file #540.
- Newly-listed Genealogy Web Sites listed by Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter.
- Journal of Online Genealogy will send you an e.mail each month when their journal is finished and you can read it online or download.
- A BARREL OF GENEALOGY LINKS is worth your time of checking it out.
- GENDEX to visit the Genealogy Home Page of the developer of GED2HTML and/or download the translator program. This is my favorite link so far.
- GenServ to visit what I know to be a very large GEDCOM database site. You have to submit a working GEDCOM file in order to use the on-line searching site but their annual fee is very low. GedCount, on the other hand, can be used by anyone. You will need to down load their GenServ Documentation 23 page manual and learn how to e.mail search requests. Any size GEDCOM file will be accepted, the larger the better, but updates are limited to one ever six moths. On May 13th I started using this site to find more links to my family tree.
GENMATCH to visit the Genealogy Home Page of Chris K. Perry, who is the developer of GenMatch (which uses your GenDex files) and learn how to submit information (database) to him.
FilePile is the world's largest collection of files. Go there for the latest shareware programs, graphics, and sound files!

- For those who are interested in more on-line searches of details for this family and others, Everton's on line library site has the complete WHEELER GEDCOM file under submitter SDNWQ4Z1. Select GEDSRCH to visit Everton's GEDCOM site. They will want you to subscribe on a monthly or six month basis but you can sample what their database files look like for free. The amount of detail in each submiter's GEDCOM file varies greatly, but you always get an address for the submitter and can write for more details for a link up.
