Building and Grounds Minutes

Mar 11, 2014

Dennis Thomas, our moderator, was out of town and asked Steve Johnson to conduct the meeting. He opened the meeting at about 7 PM.  Additional members present were Bill Haynes, Ed Green and Roger Sellers.

Steve had received updated design data from the Columbarium Committee but it was not discussed at this meeting.  We discussed a Work Day and chose 26Apr, after Easter. Priority will be given to removing damaged tiles in Watkins. Additional items must be added to our lists. About 500 sq feet of tile needs to be removed. So far, the concrete under some inspected tiles looks OK. Safety is our primary concern.

The playground fencing was discussed. The fence is installed and problems with painting appear to have been resolved. This project is about 95% complete at this time.

Both doors into the Choir room need repair. The joints are coming apart. One replacement door is on hand at this time. The East side door is the worst case and it will be done first.

There are problems with the sprinkler system on the West side of the parking lot. Brian appears to have the skills and items required to make repairs.

There is problem contacting the Brian from the office. Ed Green is going to investigate some options which could solve this problem. Some young friends of the Loman family are willing to work on the garage. The stucco apparently needs painting. The building should be washed before painting and members stated that only an Elastometric paint should be used. It is expensive.  Steve finished repairing the sanctuary light but another one has since failed. There is no database available which defines fixtures ballasts, bulbs, etc. This lack of a good database problem occurs in many repair cases.

 Respectfully,

 Roger L. Sellers
