August 10, 2010 6:15pm – Jones Hall

Opening: Martha opened with devotion and prayer at 6:15 pm

Review and Approval of last meeting Minutes:

No Minutes for July due to CE not meeting in July.

June Minutes accepted as submitted.

Ministry Team Reports:

Budget:

Discussion started for budgeting concerns for upcoming year. Members are to start reflecting on past year and list budget concerns for further discussion. Rational is to help moderator budget discussions when viewing entire church budget. Youth budget to be tracked more precisely to help in these discussions and decisions for the youth ministries.

Sunday School and Church Classes:

Susan Grandle is continuing to staff elementary Sunday School teachers. She is teaching more of the summer to give the teachers a needed rest.

Adult Sunday school is continuing with Blaine Goss and Dick Dale. Dick Dale started his class with studies in Timothy August 8^th. Women Studies class is starting a Beth Moore study.

Youth:

Mid-High and High school had successful Mission trips. The mid-high traveled to Austin, TX and worked mainly with a Food Bank mission. The high school youth traveled to Cortez, CO and worked mainly with residence maintenance and assisting with VBS. The high school and mid-high are having a lock-in on August 13-14 to paint the high school and mid-high rooms. The next fund-raiser is a Parents Night Out from 5pm – 10 pm on August 27^th. Up coming youth lessons will deal with relationships. A confirmation class will be starting Sept. 19 thru Nov 7^th. The class is open to 6^th thru 12^th grades.

Programming:

Salt and Light:

Salt and Light will be starting Sept 8^th. Main teachers are in place for VBS and volunteers are being acquired for a variety of ministries.

Vacation Bible School:

Dates for VBS was the second week of June; 6/14 – 6/18. VBS served 52 – 62 kids per day and had a wonderful out-pouring of 30 volunteers to help make it happen.

Old Business:

The Discipleship Project was closed and celebrated on August 8^th during fellowship. The bulletin board has been disassembled but the table in the library will remain to highlight resources for those interested. Still looking for volunteer(s) to help inventory and categorize the church library.

Bibles will be distributed in church on September 26^th. A letter will be sent home and a phone call will be made to the children receiving bibles prior to the service. Looking into getting a photograph taken of each child receiving a bible.

New Business:

It is with sad news that Michelle Osborne will be stepping down as CE Program Director. Currently, the director position is being advertised with interest already acquired and interviews to be set.

Discussion started of ways to pull in more youth into the youth ministry. Discussion will be ongoing as because of our goal of outreach into the community.

Closing: The meeting was closed with prayer at 7:30 pm.
