MINUTES

November 9, 2010                 6:15pm – Jones Hall

 Present: Gena Breck, Mark Hellman, Kristine Lambert, Derek Merchant, and Greg Temple

 Excused: Corina Armendariz, Theresa Armendariz, and Martha Mitchell

Opening: Greg opened with devotion and prayer at 6:15 pm

 Items for Session:

1. Motion for mid-school and high-school Christmas parties at Mark Hellman’s house. The mid-school party will be December 3 from 6-8pm. The high-school party will be December 11 from 6-8 pm.

 Review and Approval of Last Meeting Minutes: 

Minutes approved as read.

 Budget:

Youth expenses have been taken out of designated funds, rather than budgeted funds. Michelle is moving these expenses.

 Salt and Light and VBS:

Kristy will begin setting dates and themes for VBS in January

Salt and Light will be having a spring fundraiser. Date and event will be announced at a later time.

 Sunday School and Church Classes:

Susan Grandle is continuing to staff elementary Sunday School teachers.  Adult Sunday school is continuing with Blaine Goss and Dick Dale.

 Youth:

There are new guidelines that the mid-school is following after some misbehavior during youth group.

The youth will be at Fort Lone Tree November 19-20 at the Presbyterian youth retreat.

Christmas parties for both groups have been planned.

They youth are planning on doing the luminarias for the Christmas Eve service.

The youth would like to offer (free of charge) a Christmas gift wrapping service after worship on December 19^th to the congregation to thank them for all of their support.

Old Business:

It was decided by the Christian Education team that we would schedule a Safe Sanctuaries training on December 9, 2010 in the evening (pending availability of the presenter). 

New Business:

We began putting together the budget for 2011. There were increased needs for the Christian Education committee.

Closing: The meeting was closed with prayer by Mark.
