Opening devotion Martha opened with devotion “God
Finishes What He Starts” Daily Hope by Rick Warren at 6:33 p.m.

Salt and Light-
·
Still need a games & rec leader
·
luncheon menu was well-received. Served 130 supporters.
$1418.50 raised.
·
Salt and Light begins Sept 12, semester ends Dec. 12.
Spring begins Jan. 9, ends Apr. 10. Fundraiser luncheon Sunday April. 14.
·
t-shirts will be ready by Sept. 20
·
Handmade tablecloths completed in time for the beginning of
Salt & Light Sept. 12. Purple tablecloths ordered, not yet shipped
Youth-
·
Confirmation class has 3 confirmed, still interacting with
several more who may participate, still working on mentors for confirmands, Mark
is preparing a study packet for the mentor/confirmand pair that will continue
after the formal confirmation class.
·
White Sands trip a great success.

Adult- Richard Paul plans
to start class Oct. 14
Old Business
·
Move to Branigan
o
Thank you to all who came and helped with the move
o
Iglesia counselor moved to Jones Hall, where she will share
an office with Rev. Hawkins
o
Computers moved to school office in Branigan. Space is
tight, so may need to reconsider how the space is configured. Shaun Cooper will
set up several of the computers to make sure they work, then will network them
as needed
o
Craft room moved to Branigan
o
Recognize that communication about the move was incomplete.
Will follow up with those who were not aware of the move to find out what
modifications need to be made

Safe Sanctuaries follow-up
o
first aid kits in Branigan and nursery
o
fire extinguishers: Martha will talk to Buildings and
Grounds about having them inspected/recharged
o
incident report forms: draft presented by Mark,
modifications made by committee, signs with emergency numbers next to phones
(Mark will talk to Linda)

Advent devotionals: ordered 150 individual, 75 family,
bought roll of 300 labels with church information for the devotionals
·
Bibles:
o
Process: ordered 15 each of 3rd grade and 6th
grade, had book plates (stickers) made at Instacopy (made 100, won’t need more
for several years), Norm selected verses, Judith Ames wrote names and
highlighted verse in Bible. Also contacted children’s families to see if they
wished to participate and contacted Lloyd Kirshenmann about being photographer
(need two copies of each photo, one for child, one for church)
o
Discussion about having a “Bible Salt & Light” for children
who primarily attend Salt and Light but not worship (perhaps two weeks after
Salt & Light starts). Next year plan to give a form to students to take home to
their families to ask whether or not they would like the child to have a Bible,
and whether they would like to have it presented on a Sunday or a Wednesday.

Budget: concerns about whether or not the running balance
in designated funds was accurate
New Business
·
College Ministry:
o
Julie Hellman starting a campus group Sunday evenings at
the Presbyterian Campus Ministry (2511 Chaparral) 7:00 p.m.
o
Faith and Fellowship having a kickoff Sept 21st,
5-7 p.m., serving hot dogs
·
Needs for additional volunteers: Elementary Sunday School,
High School, Video. No specific action items
·
Expectations of teachers (including handling disciplinary
issues): plans to discuss expectations with several teachers
·
Teacher appreciation Sunday: Proposed Dec. 18 (when
children sing at church, also signed up for Fellowship that Sunday). Martha will
talk to Music & Worship
Closing David Medina closed us in prayer at 7:40
p.m.
