Congregational Life and Outreach (CLO) Ministry Team Minutes

May 8, 2012

Meeting was opened with prayer at 7:35 p.m. In attendance were Lon, Stephen, Nora, Bea and Kathy.

Upcoming activities

A. May 13 – Graduation Sunday

1. Date still the 13^th. Will combine with Mother’s day by having graduates give mom a flower. Nora will order cakes, ½ sheet Mother’s day cake and ½ sheet graduation cake. Kathy will buy flowers and check on sodas.

2. Devotional guides: Same as last year. Nora has them. Some corrections were made on graduates’ details. Nora will also call Adele LaVerne who has 5 more grads to add.

3. Will use punch previously made.

B. International Potluck: Date and time set for July 29 at 5 p.m.

David Klement discussed the possibility of presenting a mission trip presentation at the dinner, along with his daughter Dorothy. CLO endorsed the idea. Stephen will verify availability on church calendar. Kathy will insert it as an event on facebook.

C. June 3 – Picnic & Hymn Sing

1. Watkins Hall from 11:30 - 4:00

2. Advertisement in the church bulletin will begin three weeks in advance (Sunday, May 13 – Stephen will tell Linda).

3. Announcements at the beginning of Sunday services will begin two weeks in advance (Sunday,

May 20). Lon will announce it.

4. Song leader – Greg Sherman has agreed. We need to remind him.

5. Accompanist – Eunjong Moe has agreed. We need to remind her.

6. CLO will make egg salad, ham salad (Lon), chicken salad, etc. so that participants can make sandwiches. Nora will buy 50 croissants and Bea will buy 50 flat breads. Attendees will be asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

D. July 15 – Ice cream social

1. Venue is on the lawn, pending evaluation of the weather.

2. Advertisement in the church bulletin will begin three weeks in advance (June 24).

3. Announcements at the beginning of Saturday and Sunday services will begin two weeks in advance (so on Sunday, July 1). Announcer TBD.

E. Budget was quickly reviewed and is ok.

Other business: CLO will take over an empty closet. Jerry Grandle of B&G approved.
