Congregational Life and Outreach

January 8, 2013

Meeting was opened and closed with prayer. It began at 7:00 p.m., 30 minutes earlier than usual meeting time. In attendance were Lon, Stephen, Kathy, Bea, Nora, and Mika.

Nora expressed her major goal for the CLO team: To improve communications within the church and with the community. As part of that goal, we will intentionally list a yearly calendar of events at the beginning of every set of minutes, to be updated as necessary. Lon will ask Linda to add events with specific dates and times to the church calendar.

Upcoming Events:

Ministry Team Build-Up Pancake Supper, Feb 12: Nora will advertise in church publications. Lon will announce from pulpit. Lon will work with Deacons to see if they are interested in co-sponsoring this activity. Lon will contact Bruce White to see if he wants to cook pancakes. Kathy will do shopping. Menu: pancakes, syrup, sausage and/or bacon, fruit, coffee, tea, juice. Each ministry team will decorate and set up a table to talk with congregational volunteers. CLO will arrive at 4 p.m. to begin setup.

St. Patrick’s Day potluck, Mar 17: Will be total potluck, CLO decided not to provide “core main dish”.

Easter egg hunt: Will ask for egg-filler donations again with emphasis on small size.

Graduation/mother’s day: Nora will start looking for gifts.

New business:

Fellowship hour chairs: CLO team discussed setting up some chairs for folks who needed to sit during fellowship hour. No conclusions were reached as to the best way to do this.

Banners: Kathy and Nora are organizing banners in one place and storing them in the copy room. We discussed buying a banner printer but decided it was too expensive based on the quantity we would likely be printing.
