Congregational Life and Outreach Support (CLOS) Ministry Team Minutes
October 13, 2015
In attendance: Stephen, Judith, Bea, Kathy, Lon, Brian, Dot, Deborah,
Sheila, and Dutch
CLOS goals:
1.
Continue to enhance and improve communication
2.
Foster small groups
3.
Encourage other ministry teams to embrace “outreach” as a
core mission
The current calendar of upcoming 2015 events follows:

CLOS makes soup for the congregation and we play board games or

1.
Retrospective review on hiking trip: great weather, good
hikes. Three families were represented.
2.
Retrospective on metro maps: we received the maps and our
ad looks good, right there on the front page. Extra maps will be
passed out to visitors and as opportunities arise.
3.
Trunk or Treat Assignments:
a.
Arrange for a bounce house. Lon – done
b.
400 hot dogs. All-beef instead of the mysterious
type. Kathy
c.
300 cookies and ask for cookie donations from the
congregation to be delivered the day before, Oct 30. Let Linda know that
the office will be the drop-off location. Lon – advertise in Sunday
bulletin and Good News - done
d.
Ask Sorority for volunteers to help out with crafts. Will
order craft making kit activity. Stephen – asked sorority but has
not yet received feedback
e.
Condiments and nacho making ingredients. Kathy
f.
Contact Korean and Spanish congregations about manning a
table or participating in event. Stephen – will email
g.
Procure frosting and sprinkles for cookies. Bea
h.
Costume judges. Dot will asked Dinah to help and she
agreed. Lon and Sheila will help Dinah.
i.
Photographer. May need to skip because photographer
has medical problem. Bea will try to find alternate printer and
Stephen will talk to Natassja about being the photographer.
j.
Praise band coordination. Lon – done, Praise Band is
a go!
k.
Coordination with other groups that want to have a table.
Pass around a sign-up sheet at the session meeting. Stephen

Announcements and advertising. Sheila – ad for LC
bulletin, Lon will make congregational announcement on Sunday 18th
and Stephen will make the announcement on the 25th
m.
Banners. Lon will put them up on the 18th –
done on the 14th

Sunday bulletin sign up form for volunteers. Lon – will
work with Linda to get it in the next two Sunday bulletins - done

Popcorn. Rob and Deb will get together with Carl to check
out popcorn machine operation

Call Rusty to see if he would cook dogs (Bea-)

Recommending 4:00 pm setup or earlier if possible.

Move tables and chairs into Narthex area on the morning of
Oct 31 10 am. (Stephen, Lon, Brian)

4.
Cookbook report: Dot, Brian, and Dutch will sell
cookbooks at Farmer’s market on Oct 24th. Deborah has pop-up
tent to use. Lon ordered banner.
5.
Soup and games was added to the calendar. Stephen
will contact Linda to make sure it gets on the calendar. Stephen will
cook clam chowder to the best of his ability.
6.
Lloyd Kirschenmann offered to help with a picture
directory update. We agreed to discuss his proposal over email.
