Marianne opened the meeting at 7:00 PM with the Easter meditation from our Lenten devotionals about the holy habit of “Hooray.”  Highlights of Easter reported by team members included: inspirational Maundy Thursday art; dramatic choir music with brass, organ and bells; effective sunrise service led by youth.

Minutes of the March 9 meeting were accepted as distributed. The budget report regressed – no full year information was included, “guest artist” entries need to be reviewed.

Communion was served to 215 on Maundy Thursday, April 1.  This service by intinction worked more smoothly than those in the past.

About 210 persons were at the April 9 Concert Series presentation: “Freedom Trillogy. Our Ministry Team provided welcomers at each of the doors.  Improvements are needed for a more effective donation collection at the October and future concerts.

Discussion of regular activities included the following.

Choir is rehearsing for the last weeks of the spring, final Sunday is May 30.  On May 9, Mother’s Day, music will feature the “Freedom Trillogy, with NMSU college students that know the music being invited to sing, .  And piano music by Harry Beckett.

Children’s activity bags were monitored by Bea Conner during Esther Smolleck’s absence.  Esther reported that about 30 copies of expendable materials are used each week, many donated.  A hook by the west door had to be replaced.

Pulpit Supply for dates Rev Story will be on vacation: July 11, Rev Jay Bishop; July 18, Rev Al Kissling; and for Youth Retreat weekend, July 25, Rev. Richard Schlatter.

Young Disciples leaders – Marsha is filling in while Judith Ames is recovering.

Communion Preparation – We thank Judith for preparing and freezing wafers for the next two times before she left for her surgery.

Sanctuary decorations of Easter flowers were beautiful.  The team thanks Mariann Novak for the arrangements and the many friends who donated a memorial or honor chrysanthemum.

Sound/AV – Team member Paul Vaughan was named to coordinate the Sound Operators Team schedule. The schedule is complete through June except for one Sunday. .The welcome addition of narthex speakers is a help to choir and those arriving after gathering music begins.  A newly-donated computer is now dedicated to CD reproduction.  We will seek persons to take on the service project of duplicating recordings. Thanks to Howard Smolleck audio file editing software can be installed. A motion was made and voted to purchase the GoldWave software as a non budgeted miscellaneous item.

Upcoming team responsibilities include communion May 2 and June 6..

The meeting was closed with prayer at 7:50  PM
