& WORSHIP MINISTRY TEAM
AUGUST 10, 2010 – MEETING MINUTES
Attendance
Lois Cook, Florence Hamilton, David Klement, Marianne Maley, Wayne
Maley, Jim Parks, Howard Smolleck, Rev. Norm Story, Marsha Topley, Paul
Vaughan
Not Present
Sam Bartholomew, Melanie Grant, Joanne Kersting,
The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by
Marianne with prayer and a meditation from “ABCs for Living.”
Minutes of the June 8, meeting were accepted
as distributed. The budget report was quite understandable, a major
improvement in format. There is still a question about how designated income
is used for line item expenses
Communion was served by intinction to 179 on
Sunday, July 4, and to 199 on August 1.
Worship and Music Schedule for 2010 - 2011
was handed out. Salt & Light
special musicals, Youth Bell and Youth Choir dates, and Concert Series
events are included along with Adult Bells schedule and Chancel Choir
activities that start with a dinner and read through on September 1. The
approximately 60 rehearsals, services and programs will be on the church
calendar. This will be a great aid for coordinating all church activities,
including youth events and Salt and Light musical specials.
It was moved and voted to thank David Klement for coordinating the
many music groups and to accept and endorse the schedule.
Over the summer nine volunteers (mostly from
the Choir alto section) have entered into a computer data base details about
all the music in our library.
This now provides readily sortable information about our extensive
collection. Thanks to the
volunteers for this useful service.
Adult Bell Choir will begin rehearsals
August 23. They are looking
toward adding an additional octave of bells and are seeking out funding
options for their purchase.
Major organ maintenance should be done along
with fall tuning. This is
to be discussed along with other Ad Min priorities.
At least two persons have indicated interest
in a Sound System Operators workshop.
When they agree on a scheduled date, a general announcement will be
made to invite others who may want to be a part of this ministry.
In addition there will be a need for helpers to operate the computer
dedicated to CD reproduction of services and their distribution. .
Flowers from a recent funeral service and a
wedding were given to the church.
Ideas for use of them were discussed.
Input from decorator Mariann Novak will be sought for further
discussion at the next meeting.
Upcoming team responsibilities:
Fellowship Hour on August 29.
A simple set up is planned.
Committee help will be needed at 8:30 AM, also to serve and clean up
after the service. Communion
Sunday, September 5, help with set up at 8:30 AM and clean up after the
service.
Next M&W Ministry Team meeting will be
September 14.
The meeting was closed with prayer at 8:15
