NOVEMBER 9, 2010 – MEETING MINUTES

The meeting opened at 7:00 PM with a devotion by Joanne.  Minutes of the October 12 meeting were accepted as distributed.  Financial report shows expenses are all within budgeted amounts.  The team does not foresee significant changes in 2011 budget requests, although a line item may be needed to support the Saturday night service.

 

Communion was served to 244 on Sunday, November 7.

 

Special music for Advent includes an organ concert of seasonal music on December 5;   Youth Music Sunday, December 12;  Choir Cantata, December 19;   Candle light services on Christmas eve,  and special bell choir and youth choir numbers.   The team encouraged creation of a “Worship Opportunities for Advent” brochure to announce all of the special music events. 

 

Bell Choir has two new ringers.  The major organ cleaning has been done and new controls are now being installed with completion expected by November 16. 

 

During Rev Norms educational leave, pulpit supply next Sunday, November 14 is Elder Blaine Goss. Supply ministers are being sought for January 10 and April 10, 2011 during Rev Story’s absence.

 

The team suggested names for persons to light the advent wreath and for Christmas Eve readers.   The cost for two new wireless, rechargeable microphones is expected to be covered in our budget and can be purchased as soon as Paul submits the exact cost Sound/AV Operators are scheduled through the busy Advent activities. 

 

There were many good helpers for the November 7 Communion.  The Trunk or Treat Festival Pumpkin Carol Sing-a-long, October 31, was well received by children and families.  Team members were most helpful for the “chorus.”  It was worth considering doing again.

 

Upcoming team responsibilities: Fellowship Hour host, November 21 (meet at 8:45);   Decorations for Advent, November 27;   Communion preparation, December 5;   help with Christmas flowers on December 18.

 

Next M&W Ministry Team meeting will be December 14
