MUSIC & WORSHIP MINISTRY TEAM

May 8, 2012 – MEETING MINUTES

 

 

Attendance:  Gena Breck, Lloyd Kirschenmann, David Klement, Greg Sherman, Norm Story

Excused:  Florence Hamilton, Janet Loman, Wayne Maley, Neil Moe, Jacque Parks, Jim Parks, Howard Smolleck, Stephen Taylor, Harry Topley, Marsha Topley

 

The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by Gena Breck with prayer.                            .

 

Minutes of the April 10, 2012 meeting were accepted as distributed. The agenda was adopted. 

 

Budget information with current expenses was distributed before the meeting. It was observed that there were no unusual expenditures.

 

Committee Reports:

 

Choir report:  David Klement said the choir would be doing music anthems from the African American Tradition for the next two weeks.  He is trying to fill out the special music calendars with volunteers for this summer when the choir is resting.  The choir’s last week to sing is 5-20-12.

 

Bell Choir will be retiring for the summer, after that date, as well.

 

Pulpit supply appears to be filled for the next couple of months, with Rev. Carrol Blevins filling in on May 27 & June 3 and Janet Loman filling in on July 1.  For Faith and Fellowship, Rev. Hawkins would preach on 6-2-12.

 

Liturgists are scheduled for the next month.

 

Communion was served to 200 on May 6th, and 24 at Faith and Fellowship on May 5th.  Next Communion is June 2nd and 3rd.  In July, the Church Communion date is has been scheduled for 7-8-12.         

 

Faith and Fellowship will continue Saturday evening services all summer.  Ideas were discussed about how to increase attendance for Faith and Fellowship, including 1. mailing campaigns, 2. targeted flyers or mailings to the college neighborhood off University Ave in the Stanford, Yale area, accompanied with a dinner invitation in the fall, and  3. Have the praise and worship band get a spot and play at the Saturday Market on the downtown mall, with info/invitation flyers handed out.

 

A data projector has been purchased, strictly for use and to be kept in the Sanctuary.  A 2nd data projector will be purchased by Christian Education for use in the auxiliary buildings & classes.
