March 12, 2013 – MEETING MINUTES

Attendance: Carrol Blevins, Brad Class, Marianne Maley, Wayne Maley, Jacque Parks, Marsha Topley

Absent Lloyd Kirschenmann, Bill Kuyper, David Klement, Greg Sherman, Harry Topley, Howard Smolleck,

Moderator Kirschenmann has been hospitalized; in his absence, Elder Class chaired the meeting and opened with prayer at 7:00 PM. There were no questions about the previous meeting minutes. The budget was reviewed showing modest expenditures.

Team members received appreciative comments about the Sunday choir anthem. There were also compliments about organist Smolleck’s continuing good postlude improvisation on hymn tunes.

Florence was asked to confirm pulpit supply for April 7 and April 14 during Rev Story’s vacation and if possible advise Session for their next meeting.

The moderator will be working with elder Class to complete the Sunday morning liturgist schedule. We discussed that five readers are needed for Maundy Thursday service. Brad will review with Director Klement and schedule those readers.

Sound teams and young disciple leaders are scheduled. We do need an assistant for the children’s activity bags.

SESSION REPORT

1) Communion was served to 216 on March 3 (There were also 2x at Faith and Fellowship on 3/2)

2) The Team voted and recommends that Communion be served by intinction on Maundy Thursday, March 28 in lieu of being served on the first Sunday, April 7.

[Florence has confirmed Rev Al Kissling as pulpit supply April 7; Rev Richard Schlater on April 14]

Marsha will coordinate palm distribution to children and maybe choir on Palm Sunday. She will make sure Easter flower purchase forms for memorial or honor are in the Good New and bulletin and a list of donors is prepared.

Other Maundy Thursday/Easter preparation.

David is arranging for projection screen. Wayne and Greg will place candles and table cover after choir on Wednesday. Banners are to be removed. Brad will talk with Faith and Fellowship about timing for resetting new banners. Jacque and Marsha will coordinate moving Easter flowers (after Sunday breakfast). Deacons will be alerted for ushering.

March 31 Easter – including sunrise service and breakfast
