December 10, 2013 – MEETING MINUTES

             The meeting was opened with prayer at 6:00 PM by Greg

             Minutes for the November 12 meeting were accepted as distributed. Subsequent to that meeting Moderator Kirschenmann appointed a Hymnal Sub-Committee: Bill Kuyper, chair, David Klement, Janet Loman, Wayne Maley, Marianne Maley, Jim Parks, Jacque Parks, Greg Sherman, Nora Yaryan.  The sub-committee brought this motion:

It is moved that the Music & Worship Ministry recommends that The Session authorize the purchase of 450 purple copies (and one additional accompaniment edition*) of the new Presbyterian hymnal, Glory to God. Further, in consideration of conditionally pledged seed money and a 12.5% publishers discount for orders placed before December 31, 2013, it is recommended that the Music & Worship Ministry send this motion to the Clerk of Session no later than December 11 and that The Session request an immediate vote so that the order may be placed by December 24, 2013 while the fund raising campaign is progressing.

                *This copy is in addition to the 2 complimentary copies we will get with our early order. 

Motion passed. 

            About thirty people helped with decorating projects on November 30. The work was completed in a couple of hours by dividing responsibilities.  Especially the pre-Saturday preparations by David Cox, Dennis Thomas and Larry Felhauer.   Poinsettias will arrive on December 17 – helpers are needed to unload and water and place on Sunday morning.  De-decoration will be done on Saturday, January 11.

  The Team thanked David Klement for creating the Advent/Christmas brochure.

             There were no budget expense questions. Sound and liturgists for all December services have been arranged.  Carol agreed to work with Deacons/Ushers for candle lighting.  Two children’s bags need to be replaced.

SESSION REPORT:  Communion was served on December 1 to 198 worshipers and 27 at the Faith and Fellowship service for a total of 225.          

 As his last time as moderator, Lloyd thanked all for their dedication and for the help.  Special thanks to Greg for his extra effort during Lloyds hospitalizations.  Thank you was also extended to Marianne Maley and Harry Topley who are completing terms as deacons, and to Marsha Topley who also is leaving after serving 10 years with Music & Worship.
