MUSIC & WORSHIP
MINISTRY TEAM
October 14, 2014 –
MEETING MINUTES
Attendance:
Brad Class, Pat Felhauer, Florence Hamilton, Wayne Maley,
Jacque Parks,
Greg Sherman, Howard Smolleck, Norm
Story
Not present: Gena Breck,
David Klement, Bill Kuyper
The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by Pat with a devotion
using Psalm 18:2, and prayer
Changes in the Sunday Bulletin to make it more bilingual
were outlined by Rev. Story. The changes grow out of
dialog with the Iglesia congregation about ways to welcome
our new members. At their request, a time will be
included in the service for passing the peace. Rev
Story also reported that the 24 youth who were on the
retreat last week were not only well behaved but were
attentive to the study and caring opportunities. A
strong bonding resulted.
It was voted to accept as distributed the Minutes for the
9-9-14 Music & Worship Ministry Team meeting. Expenses
reported are under budget. There was discussion of
line items that will see an increase by the end of the year.
(See committee reports below) Designated Funds have been
contributed for some of those activities.
SESSION REPORT: Communion
was served on October 5 to 209 worshipers at the combined
congregations celebration of World Wide Communion.
Activity Reports
Trunk or Treat – No
formal M&W booth or activity. Team members are asked to
assist where help is needed or to sponsor a trunk of
goodies.
Choirs, Liturgists,
Young Disciples leaders, Sound operators
presented no questions. Pat will assist Esther Smolleck with
Children’s activity bags. Organ & Other
Instruments are to be tuned by Advent.
Glory to God Hymnals final
activity is to order 7 more large print editions.
Three copies arrived today. Pat will proceed to work
with Deacon usher teams for their use as outlined (See
9-9-14 Minutes). All three Accompaniment version sets
are accounted for.
Howard reported that he had effectively
combined recordings made by the sound room computer and the
disk made from the choir loft. Copy of that CD was
given to the church secretary for use in responding to
requests for a copy of a service. That computer
enhancement makes it possible to completely capture a
service like the World Wide Communion. To
expedite the procedure for Recording of Services, it
was agreed that the Sound team should deliver their computer
recording to Howard at the end of the service. He will then
complete the combining process later on Sunday (or Monday)
and deliver the CD to the office by Tuesday morning.
Sanctuary – The Team is grateful
for the fresh help that has been offered to prepare the
sanctuary and narthex for worship. It was voted to
name Janette Williams to be chair of a Flower Decorations
team. She worked to install fresh fall decorations
with those decorators reported last month (Janice Sherman,
Gracia Class) and another new volunteer member, Eileen Hood.
This team has made considerable progress in cleaning out the
numerous decorations storage areas and documenting what is
in storage.
Advent/Christmas. David
will be asked to develop an Advent/Christmas music and
happenings brochure; including Faith & Fellowship and
Iglesia activities. Wayne circulated a list of
decorating projects for Team members to consider which they
would lead at the November 29 decoration day being set up by
the In Betweeners.
Up-coming Team responsibilities:
October 31 - Trunk or Treat
- Team to help where most needed
November 2 - Communion
November 29 - Decorate for Advent
- In-Betweeners have agreed to
assist on this date
November 30 - First Sunday in Advent

The meeting was closed with prayer by
Greg at 8:30PM.
