MUSIC & WORSHIP MINISTRY TEAM

November 11, 2014 – MEETING MINUTES

 

Attendance:    Brad Class, Florence Hamilton, Bill Kuyper, Wayne Maley, Jacque Parks,

Not present:   David Klement, Pat Felhauer, Howard Smolleck,

           

The meeting was opened at 7:00 PM by Bill with a devotion using My Country Tis of Thee

             Rev. Story outlined progress with the Iglesia del Pueblo congregation in coordinating services.  Joint services are planned for December 14 & 28 and 4:00 Christmas Eve.  Other Sundays they will worship at 12:30 PM with Pastor Rosario from Juarez conducting a Spanish service.  Iglesia members will assist as liturgists.  Pulpit supply has been arranged as noted below. The team discussed that with additional dual language in services, it is increasingly important that announcements be concise, practiced and for announcers be seated close to the pulpit so as to begin speaking immediately after their name is called.    

            It was voted to accept the Minutes for the 10-14-14 Music & Worship Ministry Team meeting with total served at 10-10 communion changed to 226.  This increases the count by 17, the number of personal visits Rev Himes had made.

            Expenses reported are within budget.  It was recommended to shift cost of some Elementary & Youth Music to Designated.  Bill will make sure the additional seven large print copies of Glory to God (See 10-10 minutes) are paid for and the account closed.  Additional announcements were encouraged to advise worshipers that large print hymnals and hearing assist devices are available.  Bill will coordinate with Pat and the Deacon usher teams. 

            The In-Betweeners schedule for Advent/Christmas decorating includes pre-setup at 8:30 AM on Friday November 28, decorating beginning at 9:30AM November 29, ending with a pizza lunch and fellowship.  Wayne also explained that our Banner Room has been cleaned out and with the help of Chris Lehman a new rack for hanging banners has been installed.  Photographs made of our banners are now available for planning decor.  

  

            SESSION REPORT:  Communion was served on November 2 to 256 worshipers; Faith & Fellowship included.

  Activity Reports

A written report from David Klement says “the Advent /Christmas brochure won’t be ready for the meeting.”  He will send a pdf version for all Team members to review (likely early next week)

 

Liturgists, It is increasingly necessary to consider repeated use of good leaders.  Choir members as liturgists on days they sing vs in summer and at other non choir services were discussed.

Sanctuary – It was voted that Christmas decorations should be removed on Saturday, January 9, 2015.  They will remain through Epiphany (January 6). 

 

 

 

Up coming Team responsibilities:

            November 29 - Decorate for Advent - In-Betweeners have agreed to assist on this date

            November 30 - First Sunday in Advent

            December 7   - Communion

            December 24 - Candlelight Service

            January 4         -Communion

            January 9         -De-decorating
