II. Communion Activity: February 1 communion was served to
246 people; 19 Faith and Fellowship Saturday February 7th.
Brad report that Bill Kuyper would now be in charge of
communion.
III. Liturgy Scheduling: Larry Felhauer reported this was
going well.
IV. Pastor’s report: Pastor Story reported that he will be
away April 12th and April 19th.
Janet Loman and Larry Hicks will be preaching. Pastor Story
will also be away June 14th and 21st,
and those dates have yet to be filled.
Ash Wednesday is February 18th. There is nothing
special for Music and Worship to do. Deacons will usher.
Maundy Thursday is April 2nd. The Music and
Worship committee should rope off the east and west aisles.
Rev. Story and Rev. Himes will serve communion by
intinction. Because Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday
in April, it is recommended there be no communion on this
date. The committee was in agreement and Brad Class will
take this recommendation to session.
Rev. Story reminded everyone to be careful in the sanctuary
as they have started painting and changing the lighting.
V. Decorating Committee: Gracia Class reported that the
committee met last week. They are working on 4 large Easter
wreaths. She stated that this committee would welcome any
past decorating traditions for the church seasons
VI. Lenten Preparations: Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday
previously discussed under Pastor’s remarks.
VII. Banners and Linens: Brad Class will take care of
all the banners for the Lenten season. The banner room is
located off the cinema room in Watkins Hall. The linens are
located in the Brides room. Marsha Topley and Jacque
Parks take care of washing and ironing the linens. It is
important that we keep both rooms neat.
VIII. Special Flowers: Jacque Parks will continue to
work with Linda Ramirez on ordering and taking care of the
flowers for Easter and Christmas. Easter flowers will
be kalancha’s. The deacons will be responsible for taking
any extra flowers to shut-ins.
IX. New Business:
The budget report was handed out and discussed. Brad Class
advised that we have the same budget as last year and that
we are in the black. Larry Felhauer asked if Faith and
Fellowship was funded through Music and Worship, and Pastor
Story indicated they are self-funded. Brad Class will check
with Vanessa Medina regarding all the line items in the
budget, specifically the sub-accounts that are not showing
on the reports we have
Howard Smolleck advised that the Organist Guild has a
composer/organist from Alamogordo who would like to do a
concert and master class March 12th. There would
be no financial outlay from our church. Brad will take this
to the session for their approval. Howard will talk with
Greg Temple regarding that date to see if Faith and
Fellowship could move their practice time. Larry Felhauer
asked that if this concert is approved by session that
information be forwarded to him for the Newsletter as well
as to Alex Burr for the Lantern.
Music and Worship will be responsible for the fellowship
hour after the service on March 15.
X. The meeting adjourned with prayer at 8:10 pm.
Respectfully submitted by Pat Felhauer
