Music and Worship Minutes

May 12, 2015

Present:  Brad Class, Gracia Class, Larry Felhauer, Pat Felhauer, Howard Smolleck, Rev. Story

I. Opening prayer at 7 pm by Brad Class

II. Communion Activity: No report.  Brad will call Bill Kuyper prior to the next Elder Meeting.

III. Liturgy Scheduling: Larry Felhauer reported June is covered.

IV. Pastor’s report: Pastor Story reported that he will be away June 21 with Janet Loman covering, June 28^th with John Himes covering, and August 23 with Janet Loman covering.

A committee has been formed to fill the choir director position. Wayne Maley is the moderator. They hope to have a new director by August. David Klement’s last Sunday is May 17^th. Janet Loman will help coordinate the summer music.

V. Decorating Committee: Gracia Class reported that the committee is preparing to buy some new silk flowers for the summer that will add color to the existing flowers. She thanked Buildings and Grounds for making the shelves larger in room 316 for better storage of silk flowers.

VI. Pentecost Preparations: The Decorating Committee will be taking the Easter decorations down and preparing the sanctuary for Pentecost Sunday, May 24^th.They will add red linens and drapes. Brad Class will arrange for the banners to be changed. Pat Felhauer will ask Linda Ramirez to add a note in the bulletin for May 17^th asking people to dress in red on the 24^th.

VII. Special Flowers: Brad Class indicated that in order to receive quality flowers we need to order both Easter and Christmas flowers earlier. He will work with Linda Ramirez on getting the flyers and notices in the bulletin that would be both in English and Spanish. He would like to see pre-paid orders for Christmas flowers completed by early October, and those for Easter by the middle of February.

VIII. Budget:  received and reviewed.

IX. New Business:

Music and Worship will be responsible for the fellowship hour after the service on May 24th. Since this is Pentecost Sunday, Pat Felhauer will bring red punch and red velvet cupcakes. Brad will send an e-mail next week reminding all committee members to help set up, serve, and bring food items.

Howard Smolleck indicated he will be on vacation for 2 weeks beginning May 25^th.

There will not be a meeting in June.  The next meeting July 14^th will be a “concepts” meeting on liturgy of the church.

X. Gracia Class gave the closing prayer at 8 pm.
