Presbyterian Women

Membership in Presbyterian Women is open to all women of this congregation. Presbyterian Women in the congregation, presbytery, synod, and churchwide, support the mission of the church at home and around the world. Through participation and leadership in local circles, guilds, and gatherings, women are able to have direct ministry and study.

Our circles and guilds meet monthly to nurture faith through prayer, Bible study, and lively discussion. Monthly Gatherings for all women in our congregation are planned by the Coordinating Team. Gathering programs are diverse in nature to represent the many needs and interests of Presbyterian Women.

1. PW funds were allocated to local, national and international mission projects

2. PW sewing program for Mission Projects was coordinated by Jean O’Neill; the finished projects were then sent to John Hyson Center (New Mexico), Kayenta Presbyterian Church (Arizona), and overseas hospitals

3. Memorial Student Aid Funds were dispersed to some of our congregation’s college students

4. PW Reception Committee coordinated several church receptions for memorial services and special occasions

5. Nine women, including one who served as a voting delegate, attended the Presbyterian Women 2000 Churchwide Gathering in Louisville, KY, in July

6. "Care packages" were sent to college students from this congregation in the spring and in the fall

7. Women from this congregation and Northminster Presbyterian Church baked 125 turkeys to be used in meals prepared after Thanksgiving in Juarez, through the "Hands of Luke" organization.

Feb. 15 – A Shower of Blessings for the Las Cruces Community of Hope.

Mar. 17 – St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Amateur Talent Night.

Apr. 29 – Spring Luncheon, Installation of Officers of Circles and Guilds, and Dedication of the Birthday Offering

Sept. 19 – A Time Together with Northminster Presbyterian Women

Oct. 7 – Gathering of Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Sierra Blanca, at First Presbyterian Church, Las Cruces

Nov. 14 – Brown Bag Luncheon, and Judy Harvey, Missionary from Singapore

Nov. 19 – Traditional Annual Auction

Dec. 12 – Christmas Shower for the Community of Hope, Dedication of the Thank Offering, and Christmas Caroling
