MEMBERSHIP COMMISSION MEETING

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2014

 

The Membership Commission meeting met in the High School room in Reeves Hall at 11:30 AM after regular Sunday church services.  In attendance were:   Clerk of Session Carl Connor, Commission members Lon Anderson (CL&OS), Nancy Johnson (Admin), Susan Grandle (CE), Blaine Goss (Missions), Deacon Bea Connor, and New Member Applicant Alejandra Cisneros.  Elder Anderson opened the meeting in prayer, and to facilitate our interaction with New Member Applicant Cisneros, Deacon Bea Connor provided the appropriate translations in Spanish.

 

Due to the willingness of New Member Applicant Cisneros to take on a leadership role in the church, and the other commitments of all individuals attending the Membership Commission Meeting at the start of the CLOS sponsored Soup & Games luncheon the meeting was very brief.  Deacon Bea Connor was asked to read Section G-1.0304 The Ministry of Members from the Book of Order in Spanish, in order to ensure that Applicant Cisneros understood the 11 descriptions of responsible involvement in the ministry of Christ’s Church that each member accepts as their own.

 

Clerk of Session Connor asked New Member Applicant Alejandra Cisneros if she wanted to join the First Presbyterian Church, and if so, did she have any questions.  She indicated that she had no questions and that she wanted to join our church family.

 

Clerk of Session Connor asked for a motion to receive Alejandra Cisneros into the membership of the First Presbyterian Church.  A motion was made and seconded to receive Alejandra Cisneros into the membership of the First Presbyterian Church.  The motion was approved by acclamation.

 

New member Cisneros will be introduced to the congregation on Sunday, November 23, 2014.

 

The meeting was closed in prayer by Elder Anderson at 11:40 AM and the Commission members welcomed New member Alejandra Cisneros into our church family.
