Members present: President GboGbo, Secretary Burchfield, VP Xavier Chavez, Director of Assessment Tim Pitts, Director of Dev. Bill Lindemann & State District Referee Tom Duttle

 Discussion on the lack of overall referees and concern for coverage of all the youth league games. We have 60 certified referees and estimate that we will have 200 individual slots to fill each Saturday. We decided to send a formal letter to the LCYSL and NMYSL about the referee problem and will try to meet with the BOD of the LCYSL.

 Discussed the lack of 1099’s for tax purposes from the LCYSL.

General Meeting

2/8/17

 President GboGbo called to order.

January minutes moved for approval by Bill L, seconded by Ray B, approved.

Dom G. stated that in regards to the field house at the High Noon complex that it has been bid out for use so we will not have access to the concession portion of the building, just a much smaller portion.

A reminder was given for all referees to enforce the “zero tolerance policy”.

Discussion on the shortage of referees. We have 62 certified referees currently. There will be a Grade 8 clinic on February 25 and the new refs will have assigned U12 AR slots on March 4th.

 State Referee Tom Duttle presented the idea of creating a Referee Academy for some younger refs interested in travelling and doing higher level games. He also stated the most U12/13 AR slots for March 4 will be blocked to train and mentor the new referees.

 Bill L. stated that he now has the remaining schedule for the Middle School games and will be assigning soon. Also, The Portland Timbers now have several club teams in Las Cruces.

 Bill L. conducted training on fraudulent pass cards, weather & concussion protocol. Referees should not interact with spectators.
