Las Cruces Soccer Referee Association General Meeting

Location: NMSU Gerald Thomas Hall, Rm. 200
Date: November 16, 2014
Regular Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Raymond Burchfield.

Adult Leagues
Bill noted that there were no league games scheduled for Sunday, but they are talking about playing some rescheduled games. Who is available for them?
Bill noted some misinformation earlier about referee assault in New Mexico:
1. Assault on a referee is a misdemeanor;
2. Aggravated assault (i.e., with a deadly weapon) is a 3rd degree felony;
3. Aggravated battery is a 4th degree felony.
There was an instance of referee assault during the WESC. The perpetrator received a 3-year ban from the league.

Other information
Raymond asked for volunteers to be the nominating official. There were no volunteers. Elections will be next month.

State Report
Tom reported that there will be a recert clinic on 11/26. The only other option would have been 12/6.

Training
Nigel began the training session at 7:15 pm. The topic was the current interpretation of offside. In particular, it was discussed that what the term “Deliberately plays the ball” means is “makes a deliberate play on the ball whether or not he successfully controls it.”

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Minutes respectfully submitted by Tim Pitts.
