MINUTES OF BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS MINISTRY MEETING
MAY 11, 2010
The Meeting opened with payer at 7:00 PM.
In attendance was Bill Brady acting
Moderator, Jerry Grandle, Austin Breck, Ralph Miller, Debby Austin and Bob
Paul. Absent was Charley Yaryan.
Old Business
- Housing for the Wheelchair Van.
Jerry Grandle reported that the plan for a steel shed was found
untenable. He presented an
alternate approach which could be done more cheaply and still serve our
needs well. It is a simple “pole barn, with R-panel roof, chain–link
wall structure”. It is designed to provide shelter from the elements and
from vandals. Jerry will update Session on the price as soon it is
known. He will get an estimate on the cost of the fence. It will have
swing doors with castor wheels. The shelter fence quadrangle will be 16’
wide and 30’ deep. Carl Conner had some photos of the area to illustrate
the challenges we will need to overcome with our design.
- Quadrangle Lawn. Bill Brady reported that
the new seeding and watering schedule seem to be producing the desired
growth.
- Columbarium Bob McPherson is leading this
project. The basic design was approved a year ago and was produced by a
landscape designer. A tree was removed as planned and will be
compensated for by planting two smaller trees. Our role is to support
the columbarium committee as needed.
New Business
- Work Day-June 5. We must solicit our church
organizations and Ministries to get recommendations as to what tasks
need to be done and some notion of priorities. Bill will talk to Linda
and Michelle for input. We will then need to select tasks and gather
tools and materials. Bill will get notices in the Lantern and, the Good
News. Bill will be delegating a number of things to committee members.
We will also need one or two announcements to the congregation. There
appears to be adequate time but there is none to spare. Use e-mail and
other tools to insure success. All committee members are veterans of
Work days. We ask you to step up and to get involved early.
