Building and Grounds Minutes
April
11, 2012
Bruce opened the meeting with a prayer at 7:000 p.m. Committee
members present were: Jerry Grandle, Dennis Thomas, Janet Loman, Roger
Sellers, Eddie Armendariz and Bruce Pearson. Rev. Norm Story
also sat in for about ten minutes at the beginning.
Old
Business
The
committee conducted an informal review of Barry Fowler's job performance.
We decided that his janitorial duties must have priority over any requests
for his services as a handyman. Strict adherence to this
priority is even more necessary now that Barry is working five hours less
per week than previously. All members of the congregation must
understand that Barry has a number of janitorial duties he must perform each
day, and that he is not able to drop everything in order to respond to
miscellaneous requests from the congregation at the last minute.
His absolute top priority every Friday will be to insure that the sanctuary
is completely clean and in order for Sunday worship. For these
reasons, congregation members desiring Barry's miscellaneous services (e.g.,
setting up for events and meetings) are requested to submit all such
requests to Building and Grounds in advance, and not directly to Barry.
New
Business
The committee determined that Barry needs a new, commercial grade vacuum
cleaner in order to be able to vacuum hard-to-reach areas in the sanctuary.
Dennis agreed to buy a medium range, upright vacuum cleaner equipped with an
extension and wand. Eddie said he would provide some new feather
dusters for Barry.
Elder Austin Breck, representing the Session's Administrative Committee,
made a brief appearance in order to ask B and G to check the air
conditioning units in Branigan Hall after the Children's Garden has
completely vacated that area. B and G will do so.
Our church work day will be on Saturday, May 12, between 8 a.m. and noon.
Janet assigned each B and G member pages in the church directory of
congregation members to call. Within the next two weeks, each B
and G member is also to make an individual list of suggested projects for
the work day. Based on these suggested projects, Jerry will then
compile worksheets. Roger will hand out the worksheets to the
teams of volunteers and will check them off when they have completed each
project. Bruce volunteered to do the tree pruning and said he
will begin before May 12.
The meeting was adjourned with a prayer by Roger at 8:12 p.m..
Respectfully submitted by Bruce Pearson
