MINUTES
Open and close with prayer
I. Thanksgiving Dinner
a. Advertising
i. Posters are up on campus already
ii. Larry is going to check into a radio commercial on the university station
iii. Larry is going to ask Rusty to make an announcement in church about needing dishes
b. Individual Responsibilities
i. Nora Yaryan has decorations and has offered to set them up, but she’s in hospital so we will play it by ear to see if she’s able/ready to do so. We will be setting up on Saturday, the day before the dinner. Kathy is going to talk with Anita and coordinate the time through e-mail. Larry is going to see about leaving the tables & chairs set up from the previous Wednesday’s Salt & Light dinner. Everyone will show up for the event at 3:45-4:00 p.m. to make coffee, preheat ovens, etc.
ii. Kathy is going shopping. She will buy paper plates, cups for punch, rolls & butter. We will use real silver ware, and Kathy will find a punch recipe.
iii. Everyone will pitch in for clean up after the event.
iv. Entertainment – there will be a group of choir members performing after dinner, and maybe a story?
II. After Church Fellowship on Dec. 6th
a. Whoever can will bake something.
b. Set up before church (9:00 – 10:00 a.m.)
III. Visitor Gift Bags/Identification – any feedback?
a. Quite a few are being given out (2-3 per week)
b. Pat has been including visitor tags, but none of us have seen anyone wearing them, so she will discontinue putting them in the bags.
c. The key to these is notice visitors as they come in – once they’re seated, the bags get put on a pew or on the floor and are more difficult to identify.
IV. Past Events
a. Trunk-or-Treat
i. Larry took ~130 photos, some of which he’s asked Judith Ames to make into a poster.
ii. We think we could do more outreach with this event.
1. Ministry teams host carnival games
2. More literature available
iii. Stencils, crafts, cookie decorating were very popular
iv. Committee notes for this event (use your back button to return here) are attached. Some items purchased from OTC on clearance for next year’s event.
V. New Business/Walk Ons
a. We were given literature on some Bible verse calendars, if CL&O wanted to purchase them for the congregation. They’re pretty pricey for our budget, so we are going to recommend to Mark that the youth use them as a fundraising opportunity.
b. The budget this month did not include any YTD or budgeted information, only the differences between the September and October expenditures. Carissa will e-mail Michelle about getting the October report with the YTD/budgeted information.
VI. There will be no CL&O meeting in December. The next committee meeting will be the second Tuesday in January.
